How to get to the city centre of Montpellier

From Montpellier Méditerranée Airport:

Take the Airport Shuttle Line 620 to Place de l'Europe (around 25 minutes). From there, take tram line 1 or 2 to get to Place de la Comédie.

From Montpellier railway station Sud de France (TGV):

Take tram n°1 (direction "Mosson"). It will take you directly to Place de la Comédie.

From Montpellier Saint-Roch railway station:

You are only 5 minutes' walk from Place de la Comédie. Exit the train station and walk straight ahead across the tram lines bearing slightly right to get onto rue de Maguelone (McDonald's should be on your right hand side). Walk up rue de Maguelone to get to Place de la Comédie.

Trams

There are five tram lines in Montpellier operated by the company "TAM". Click here to find information about the lines and the timetables. A ticket costs 1.60€ and is valid 1 and a half hours and a day ticket costs 4.30€. There are four ways you can buy a ticket:

  • At every tram stop there is a poster with a QR code. Flash the code and pay. The ticket is immediately validated and is to be used within one and a half hours of buying it.
  • Download the app "M’Ticket TaM" with which you can buy a single ticket or a pack of 10 (link for Apple Store and link for Google Play). You don't have to validate the tickets immediately. Do it just before get on the tram.
  • At the ticket machines at various tram stops, including all the main ones like St Roch train station, Comédie and Corum. The ticket is immediately validated and is to be used within one and a half hours of buying it.
  • At various 'tabacs' and other shops where you see a "TaM relay" sign.
